Lefi Ganderson - The Goat Boy of Mount Seething

The tiny hamlet of Seething Wells in Surbiton is home to one of the great legends in Europe - Lefi Ganderson (The Goat Boy of Mount Seething)

A classic tale of the battle between good and evil the legend tells of how a little goat boy defeats the giant Thamas Deeton and frees the villagers from fear.

The tale sparked an annual procession that was held for centuries before stopping in 1921. In 2010 the Festival and procession were re-staged and it is hoped that it will grow back to its former glory.

The story of Lefi Ganderson is now available in a short book which you can buy from The Lamb public house on the Brighton Road, Surbiton or by emailing Lefithegoatboy@yahoo.co.uk

It is always hard to work out where legend and truth mix. Following successful funding to the BSAA a series of field research projects were undertaken in the Seething area. Below you will find some short documentaries of the findings.
